Greg's birthday was on Monday. It was kind of a funny day. He took the day off since he had just gotten back from his trip and the three of us just spent the day together. We went out to breakfast, then went to a nearby city we had heard some good things about and we wandered around PetSmart (for Macy) and Best Buy (for Greg) and turned around and headed home. Funny stuff.
When we got home we failed to get Macy to take a nap (even though she fell asleep in the car), so we watched a movie together instead and Macy got some good cuddling time in with Daddy.
Then we went to dinner. Here's Greg's birthday dessert—white chocolate macadamia nut cookies from Walmart (so good). I felt funny about making a whole cake for just us, so instead I made one for him to take to work (carrot cake with cream cheese frosting; I hear it was pretty good).
In other news, Macy now knows what sound an elephant makes (sort of).
She also really wanted Greg to pay attention to her—he kept looking at the computer and she didn't appreciate being ignored.
I think I've mentioned before that she's loving movies right now. She calls them "oo-wee!" Here's a short version of her movie selection process. She picks up a movie, carefully examines both sides of the cover, then puts it back and repeats. It takes forever sometimes. When I won't let her watch a movie but have to open the closet she can choose one super fast.
Today I finally bit the bullet and pulled her hair up all the way. It stayed in for a few hours, but the hair around her temples fell out so now she has little ringlet clusters over each ear.
And here's a video so you can see it a little bit better. She always runs around lately to try to see the camera screen, so that's why she has a little mini-tantrum.
Five weeks left until Baby #2's due date. Hopefully by then Macy will settle back into a good sleeping routine—she has been awfully difficult lately. (And her favorite word is definitely "no" still.)
Tomorrow our electricity will be out from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Any suggestions for stuff to do? I'm kind of at a loss. Should be an interesting day . . .

I really like Macy's hair like that. I'd probably wander around Target (I don't know if you have a Target). Or go to the Library and get a lot of books and then read them to Macy. Or go to a park. Or just sit home. At least it will be light outside so you'll have light inside.
have you been to the smithfield outlets? there's some pretty good stuff there!
happy birthday greg! (from nick)
you could build a fort and read books with a flashlight :) might not last the entire 4 hrs though.
