Thanksgiving 2010! We went to Georgia to spend Thanksgiving with Greg's family. Doesn't Josh look so happy? (He was happy until Macy joined him.)
Macy has her own shelf of books on the bookcase. This is what it looks like at the end of almost every day.
Checking out the Christmas decorations . . .
. . . and posing for the camera.
And now a little Macy update. Our little girl does some funny things. Like make herself a little bed in front of the door.
She loves Disney movies. Her especial favorites are Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella, which she calls "wowa" (Aurora) and "wewa" (Rella), respectively. Her favorite parts are when the princesses dance.
We converted her crib (soon to be Josh's crib) into a toddler bed about two months ago. She climbed out of the crib one too many times and we didn't want her to break a limb. (We held out as long as we could because we were sure she wouldn't stay in bed.) For some strange reason, she would not get out of bed by herself. She would cry until we went to get her. When we opened the door, she'd climb out. Weird. Well, she finally started getting out of bed on her own. I hear her little pitter patter across the hall in the morning and she bursts into my room with a loud "hi!" After her naps she stands at the top of the stairs and yells "Mama!" (she can climb downstairs herself, but makes me go get her).
We've also been binky-less for about two months. She kept chewing, pulling, and playing with them, so they broke. When she broke the last one we had her throw it away and told her they were all gone. She still asks for it when she's really upset, but we just remind her that it's broken and she had to throw it away. I can't believe how easy it was. The girl was totally addicted.
She loves to watch me do my hair and makeup. She also insists on doing her own makeup. When I put cream on my face she has to put some on too, so she holds out her index finger and puts it on just like I do (she's mimicking the way I put on my acne medication, because my face has broken out full force again since I started nursing Josh). She has to put on eye shadow and blush too. She's definitely all girl.
I think she calls Greg "mama" or "bapa" based on the role she wants him to play rather than as his actual name. "Mama" is her attention-getter and "bapa" means "play with me!" or "dad's home!"
She can sort of spell her name. I say "M-A-C" and she yells "Y!" She loves to "write" her name too. Letters are all "i" and when she sings the ABCs she says "i, i, i, i," etc. (while dancing, of course).
She likes to do a little roll-call type thing. She'll point and say our names, then she puts her hands on her chest and says "mine."
That's all I can think of for now. On to little Joshua.
He's a very good baby. He loves being held and cuddled, looking around, playing with Macy, and especially eating. I'm very excited for the day we can start cereal. He sleeps at least six hours straight every night, and up to eight when we're really lucky. I think Macy was six months old before she slept through the night. He doesn't like the swing (Macy would sit in there for hours) but loves his bouncy seat.
We took him to the doctor on Tuesday for his two-month checkup (he'll be three months on Christmas Day). I don't think I ever posted his two-week stats, so here they are.
Two weeks:
Weight: 8 lbs., 11 oz., 45th percentile
Height: 21 in., 59th
Head circ.: 37 cm., 45th
Two months:
Weight: 14 lbs., 5 oz., 83rd
Height: 23.5 in., 47th
Head circ.: 24 cm., 79th
I looked up what his percentiles would be if he were measured as a three-month-old and they were all in the 50th. So he's maybe not as big as those numbers make him seem. Whatever.
Josh has very long hair, but it's significantly longer and thicker on the right side of his head than it is on the left. Kind of weird.
Nothing else new about him, except that I love his little cry. He has the normal, angry, newborn-type cry that every baby has, but he also has something more like a sad sob that makes him sound like his little heart is breaking. Poor baby. I love to hear him "talk" too. He already sounds like a little boy and it makes me laugh.
So here's one of those long videos of him doing nothing but smiling. Enjoy!
