For Morgan

It was great to see you guys! Here's the recipe.

Green Beans with Browned Butter

3 (9-ounce) packages frozen cut green beans*
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. slivered almonds or pine nuts**
salt to taste

In a large saucepan, bring 2 cups water to a boil. Add beans. Cover and return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until beans are tender. Pour water off and set aside. In a separate pan, melt butter over low heat. Add almonds or pine nuts. Stir constantly until butter and nuts are lightly browned. (This seems like it takes forever, but you'll know when it's done.) Pour mixture over beans. Toss to coat. Salt to taste. Keep warm over low heat until ready to serve. Makes 8 servings.

*I've always used fresh; just steam them the same way.
**I like the texture of sliced almonds better, but whatever.

Out of curiosity, what is your favorite kind of store-bought hummus? (Anyone can answer this question). You and at least one other person will think I'm crazy, but I've never tried it and I think it's time to take the plunge.

The only store-bought hummus I've ever eaten and liked was in England ... but I have a few recipes that are good, if you have a food processor.

I'm going to make it as soon as I go grocery shopping! The best hummus is Sabra, you can buy it at Costco, and personally I think the best flavor is toasted pine nut, but i'm sure sun dried tomato is delicious too. It's great with wheat thins, or even better with toasted pita bread. my mouth is watering...
