Macy has done two fall dance classes so far. After the first class the instructor(s) asked me if I wanted to move her up from the "Tots" class (18 mos. to 3 yrs.) to "Kinderdance 1" (3-4 yrs.). So we tried it. It didn't go so well. The other girls are a good 6 months older than her (which makes a big difference at this age), but the instructor said we should give her a few more weeks and see if she'll grow into it. The class is 45 min. instead of 30 and a lot more structured, so it will take her a while to adjust.
She does really well with what they call "creative expression," which is stuff like the Itsy Bitsy Spider, Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes, and the Hokey Pokey. She doesn't do too well with the actual ballet aspects. But again, it's all new for her.
I have tried several times to get Macy to do some of the things she does in dance class on video. But she refuses. She loves her dance outfits and loves to wear them at home, but she usually won't do anything but walk around and run away from me when I pull out the camera.
This time she got distracted, but you get to see her purple leotard again.
So much fun. Dance class is the highlight of our week.
