I find myself missing people more and more lately. I miss my family, obviously, but I talk to them at least once a week and we webcam-it-up every once in a while. Increasingly, however, I find myself missing the friends I've had for years, some since I was 12, others almost as long, who I stayed with (or who stayed with me, I guess) through junior high, high school, and four years of college.
I've been planning (perhaps unwisely since it's not for sure) our upcoming move to England. I've learned that houses are small, that you should only take what you need. And even if we don't go to England, moving every three years means I need to get rid of those non-essentials just to make it easier on myself. To that end, I was going through old papers and finding letters and notes from high school which indicate two things: 1) my friends and I were very bored in all of our classes and 2) we had a lot of fun together.
As a result, I'm waxing nostalgic. Among other, sometimes more serious, things, I found this note we wrote back and forth the day we saw the Two Towers midnight showing, so we hadn't gotten a lot of sleep and I think we were trying to talk Bailee into playing after school. And yes, I know I'm the only one who thinks it's funny. I don't care. This blog is for me too.
Bailee: I'm going to shoot myself.
Megan: Frodo, we need you though. Don't be too eager to deal out death and judgment. --Gandalf
Bailee: I'm going to make you get a life and then shoot myself.
Megan: Frodo, I have a life. Arwen is my life. It's a beautiful life. A wonderful life. Please don't make me get angry. --Strider
Emily: Listen, Mr. Frodo, don't forsake the fellowship. We need you, but more importantly you need us. You can't get to Mordor on your own (freeloader). --Sam
Bailee: Just give me a gun.
Megan: What's a gun? Never heard of it. --Aragorn
Emily: Mr. Frodo, I don't know what this gun thing is, but you can't lose hope. You have got to hold on for the fact that there is some good in this world, and it's worth fighting for. --Sam
Bailee: You live in a fantasy world.
Megan: But you're part of this fantasy world. Don't deny the truth in this. Don't you understand? If this world falls it's taking you down with it. --Merry
Emily: The world of men is failing Mr. Frodo, come to the undying lands of fantasy with me and Aragorn. --Arwen
Bailee: I'm going home at 2:20 when school gets out you psychos.
Good times.
